Life’s been a bit hectic over the last few days. I’ve just landed quite a substantial new contract through my webdev business which is going to take up most of my time over the next few months, but fortunately it doesn’t start for another month or so. So I plan to shoot as much as I can over the next few weeks.
Last night I went to the opening of a new exhibition at Cube gallery in Manchester. The project was title “Unnoticed” and was produced by the Contemporary Photography Foundation Degree students at Mid-Cheshire College. There were displays from 15 different students ranging from Laura Towersey’s rather surreal “Secrets” through to Luke Cannon’s excellent set of portraits titled “Childhood Fears”. These students have clearly put a significant amount of time and effort into these works, I would recommend that you go and check them out.
I have been submitting work to a few competitions over the last few days. The primary one being the Landscape Photographer of the Year sponsored by Visit Britain, Fuji, Calumet and the Sunday Times amongst others as there’s a £10,000 prize at stake. To be honest, it’s not so much the money I’m interested in (though it would be nice!) rather the exposure to be gained from doing well in a competition of this stature. Hey I’ve got nothing to lose other than the few quid it costs to enter. I’ve quite a few others planned to enter of the next few months. I’ll post details of where you can enter yourselves over the next week or so.
